San Antonio-based grocery store giant H-E-B is moving forward with plans that will allow its stores in the Houston area to continue operating if the power grid goes down. H-E-B has entered into a deal with Texas Microgrid LLC to install backup generators that run on natural gas to power 45 stores in the Houston area. Located just miles from the Gulf Coast, the Houston power grid is susceptible to tropical storms, hurricanes, flooding, high winds and other weather-related events.
