DCD Grid Scale Broadcast 2021 – The Self-Sufficient Microgrid: Transforming the Energy Landscape Behind the Meter
In this Enchanted Rock presentation for DCD Grid Scale 2021, we discuss the weakening of an aging grid from multiple factors: the electrification of everything, increased renewable adoption, the increasing amount of extreme weather activity, and the expansion of our critical infrastructure needed by our society.
A natural gas fueled dual-purpose microgrid can ensure full facility electrical resiliency for any duration of time in response to any type of outage. While not running as a backup, a DPM can run as a grid asset, supplying energy back to the larger grid during peak usage. This helps to reduce stress on the grid and lowers the cost of power for the surrounding community.
